The music
This music is a journey through five chants and, for me, encompasses elements of stillness and silence, structure and form, movement and freedom. Each chant was written individually and then joined to form this album.

Sahasrara Im
“Calling consciousness down onto the earthly plane”:
I wrote this chant in the summer: during an afternoon’s painting with a friend, I drifted away from the paints and towards my harmonium. This chant is the result.
Om Sri Ganeshaya Namaha
“Greetings and Honour to Ganesha, remover of obstacles”:
One of the first I wrote, this chant calls to Ganesha, the Hindu elephant God who removes obstacles.
Bridge
Om Namo Narayanaya
“Calling to the supreme being who dreams this world into being”:
I was so taken by the description of Narayan as ‘the being who dreams this world into existence’ that I wrote this chant. It is one of my favourites to sing myself and to teach in workshops.
Jaya Jaya
Jaya Jaya Devi Matha
“Invoking and honouring the Divine Mother”:
This chant calls to the Divine Mother. For me it invokes the glory and chaos of the dark mother whirling through the world!
Aham Prema
“I am Divine Love”:
I wrote this with a borrowed harmonium in Greece in the summer of 2007.
